Cane Corso puppies require proper care, structure, and protection while growing to ensure they develop into healthy, stable adults.

Vaccinations & Going Outside

Cane Corso puppies should NOT be taken into public places or around unknown dogs until all puppy vaccinations are completed. This helps protect them from serious illnesses such as Parvo and other dangerous viruses. Until fully vaccinated, avoid dog parks, pet store floors, public grass areas, and heavily trafficked outdoor spaces.

Protecting Their Growing Joints

Cane Corsos are a large breed, and their joints are still developing as puppies. Do not allow puppies to jump off beds, couches, stairs, porches, or other high places. Excessive jumping and rough impact can place stress on their hips, elbows, and joints during growth.

Ear Cropping & Ear Posting Care

If your Cane Corso puppy has cropped ears, proper ear posting and maintenance are extremely important. The ear stance should remain posted and standing consistently throughout the process to help achieve proper ear formation. Regular cleaning and monitoring are necessary to prevent irritation or infection. Always follow proper posting techniques and keep ears dry and clean.

Safe Toys for Puppies

Avoid squeaky toys or soft toys that can easily be destroyed or swallowed. Strong teething toys and durable chew toys are much safer for Cane Corso puppies, we also strongly recommend Nyle bones, or deer shed for teething and chewing! Rope-style toys, hard rubber toys, and supervised tug toys work well. Some owners also use tightly tied cloth or sock-style tug toys for supervised play and teething comfort.

Importance of Socialization

Proper socialization is ESSENTIAL for a Cane Corso puppy, especially throughout the first year of life. Without consistent and positive socialization, Cane Corsos can develop fear-based behaviors, territorial issues, or aggression toward people and other animals.

Cane Corso puppies should be safely exposed to different environments, sounds, people, children, animals, surfaces, and everyday situations while they are young. Early socialization helps build confidence, stability, and proper temperament.
